Meet Your Maker
Mikko Mead is a queer 4th generation Japanese American dyer, knitter, and spinner. Born and raised in Honolulu, HI she made her way to the Pacific Northwest, pursuing environmental studies at the University of Washington and the Evergreen State College. She moved to the Olympic Peninsula in search of a robust fiber community and took up a job at her local yarn shop (Diva Yarn & Trim) in Port Townsend, and like any dyer will tell you, the rest was history. She began creating her own colors and palettes, playing with a variety of bases from Shaniko roving to wool and silk yarns. Over the years, she has honed her skill for creating bold and beautiful colors that she is honored to pass along to fiber enthusiasts alike.
Her hand-dyed fiber has been featured in projects big and small, from various knit and crochet projects to a video game (Feltopia) and music festival (Coachella 2026)
